Richard P. Weissfuss, Jr., 84, of South Bend, passed away at 2:45 pm, Thursday, January 21, 2010 in his home. Richard was born on December 8, 1925 in Chicago, IL to the late Richard H. and Selma (Behlke) Weissfuss. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Willa D. Cooper, who passed away June 2, 2002.
Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII before becoming honorable discharged in 1946. Richard worked for Bendix as a Crib Keeper for many years before retiring in 1982. He was a lifetime member of the Elks of South Bend and was a member of the Moose Lodge of Elkhart.
He is survived by three children, Rana (Michael) Witucki of Terre Haute, IN, Janice Weissfuss of Dallas, TX, and Paula (Timothy) Butts of South Bend, five grandchildren, Allison and Jacob Witucki and Elaine, Sabrina, and Melissa Butts. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley (Robert) Engel of Florida.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Monday, January 25, 2010 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in the funeral home with Rev. Brian Borger officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
