Robert J. Kirkpatrick, 86, of Mishawaka, passed away at 5:39 am, Saturday, October 30, 2010 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Robert was born on April 20, 1924 in Mishawaka to the late Milo and Florine (Bultinck) Kirkpatrick.
On July 8, 1950, he married A. Jean Dawalt, who survives, along with two daughters, Michele Teters of Osceola and Suzane Daniels of Mishawaka, four grandchildren, Scott (Kristine), Lora (Matt), Christopher, and Robert; three great grandchildren, Ashley, Miranda, and Collin and one great great grandchild, Caiden. He is also survived by one brother, Tom (Pat) Kirkpatrick of Mishawaka, and one sister, Joan (Paul) Bruggeman of Middleton, OH. He is preceded in death by his parents, son in law, Larry Teters, and a sister, Rosemary Raab.
Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was involved in the D-Day Invasion in Normandy on Omaha Beach. He became honorably discharged in 1943. When he returned he worked as a shoe designer for Ball Band/Uniroyal for many years and retired from Clarks Metal Last.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
