Robert "Bob" Roy Markle, 60, of Union, MI, formerly of Elkhart, passed away at 8:18 pm, Saturday, August 1, 2009 in Elkhart General Hospital. Bob was born on October 5, 1948 in Elkhart to Roy and Rita (Hummel) Markle.
Bob was a graduate of Elkhart Central High School. He proudly served his country during Vietnam in the U.S. Army. He worked as a general contractor and was also a painter. He was a member of the American Legion Post 143, Bristol. He will be remembered for his love of golf and fishing.
Bob is survived by two children, Ryan (Jodi) Markle of Novi, MI and Chrissy (Max) Koopmans of Chicago, IL, granddaughter, Isla Markle; loving companion, Jackie Swartzell of Union, MI, his mother, Rita Markle of Elkhart. Also surviving are brother, James (Vickie) Markle and sister, Tawney (Roy) Miller, both of Elkhart. He is preceded in death by his father and one brother, Gary Markle
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 5, 2009 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 6, 2009 in the funeral home.
