Obituary

Robert Mervin Peters, age 70, of Elkhart, Indiana passed away on February 13, 2009 at the Hospice House of Elkhart County of natural causes. Bob was born October 22, 1938 in Dayton, Indiana to the late Chester and Alberta (Rayburn) Peters. On August 27, 1961, Bob married the former Ms. Martha Dyer at the Lafayette Church of Christ in Lafayette, Indiana.
Martha survives, along with two sons, Robert Anthony (Cynthia) Peters and Christopher Mervin (Eva) Peters, both of Elkhart, one grandchild, Alexa Peters of Elkhart, and his siblings, Norman (Judy) Peters, Jerry (Diane) Peters, and Marge Brants, all of Lafayette, Indiana as well as Ruth (Don) Woodhall of Georgia, and Sandy (Larry) Danforth of Illinois. Bob was preceded in death by a granddaughter Maranda Peters and his brother, John Peters.
Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Indiana. There will also be one hour of calling prior to the 1:00 pm funeral service on Monday, February 16, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Bob served his country during the Korean War era, and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1959. He was employed for 12 years by PPG in Kokomo, Indiana, and for over 20 years as a foreman at AACOA in Elkhart. In his spare time, he enjoyed growing gladiolas in his flower gardens, fishing with his family and in his younger years, playing softball and bowling in leagues.
