Robert L. Reed, 83, of South Bend, died Sunday July 20, 2014 at Golden Living Center - Fountainview in Mishawaka. The Culver native was born January 24, 1931 to Ora & Mabelle (Reinhold) Reed. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Robert retired in 1987 from John Adams High School, where he taught Government & Sociology and coached track. He was also a football & basketball referee on both the high school and college level and was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by his wife, Leona D. (Kush) Reed in 1979. He is survived by his fiance, Barbara Armentrout, his children, Steven M. (Joy) Reed of South Bend, Susan (Bryan) Stratton of Granger, Sandy Bruce of Mishawaka and Scott (Nancy) Reed of South Bend; grandchildren, Sara Stratton of Koontz Lake, Ashley Stratton of South Bend, Joey Stratton of Bloomington and Andrew Bruce of Mishawaka. Memorial Services 4:00 Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, where friends may call from 2-4pm on Wednesday. Private burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
