Robert M. Smith, 72, of Mishawaka, died on Tuesday, July 11, 2018 surrounded by his family.  He was born on January 13, 1946 to Charles M. and Sophie (Sperlinski) Smith, both of which have preceded him in death.  After receiving his High School diploma, Robert enlisted and served his country honorably in the United States Navy.  Robert worked as a painter for AM General for over 30 years.  He was known as "Mr. Fixit" spending his time working on lawn equipment, clocks, and restoring furniture.  Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and collecting antiques.  He will be remembered as being a great lover of animals.  Robert is survived by his sons, Michael (Lisa) Smith of Edwardsburg, MI and Donald (Tanya Williams) Smith of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Joshua, Jake, Steven, and Abby; two great-grandchildren, Brynna and Malaya; and his brother, James Smith of Washington State.  A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 2 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN  46561 with a time of visitation beginning at 1 PM.
