Obituary

Rodney A. Sowala, 49, of Osceola, died Saturday December 4, 2010. Rodney was born September 15, 1961 in South Bend. A graduate of Penn High School, Rodney served his country proudly in the U.S. Army Reserves for several years. After his honorable discharge, Rodney remained faithful and patriotic to the country he loved. He was employed by Fortis Plastics, LLC at the South Bend Plant for several years. Rodney enjoyed riding, and working on, his Harley-Davidson motorcycle & was very family oriented. He loved his children and grandchildren immensely. In his spare time Rodney enjoyed taking walks and was also interested in trains. He enjoyed assisting at Queen of Peace Trivia Night & other events at the church. Survivors include his wife, Amanda Sowala; his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Sowala of Osceola; his children, A.J. Sowala, Tiffaney Sowala and Drake Sowala; step-daughters, Candice Faust and Karissa Carr; step-grandchildren, Trenton, Amari, Ka''Mya and Olivia; his siblings, Timothy (Kimberly)Sowala, Robbie (Tammy) Sowala, Debbie (Steve)Barbour and Ann-Marie (Todd) Kankel, all of Osceola; nieces and nephews, J.J., Jason, Jeremy & Justin Stremme; Samantha, Katrina & Kayle Sowala; Ryan Carter; Stephen & Kipp Sowala; Shelby & Cody Kankel and his great nieces & nephews. Rodney was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bert J. & Gladys A. Sowala. Mass of Christian Resurrection 10:30am Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Rd. with calling one hour prior to Mass. Calling also 4-8pm Wednesday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00pm. Private interment at a later date. The family's preferred memorial is Queen of Peace Catholic School, 4508 Vistula Rd. Mishawaka, IN 46544.
