Ron Beelby 91, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Tuesday April 02, 2024.
Ron was married to the love of his life Helen Hewitt on December 19, 1952, who preceded him in death along with his parents Haughton Sinclair and Lucille (Shank) Beelby.
Ron is survived by his sister Janet (Jim) Dunn of Landing, Michigan; and their son Jeff (Jacquie) Dunn and their daughter Jessica of Minot, North Dakota.
He is also survived by his son Mark (Barbara) Beelby of South Bend, Indiana; grandchildren Chloe Beelby of South Bend, Indiana, Michelle (Christopher) Loftus of Niles, Michigan and Andrew (Claire) Beelby of Ladoga, Indiana; as well as great grandchildren Issac, Ethan & Caleb Beelby; Aiden, Isabel, Abigail & Taylor Loftus; Zoey, Max & Ryker Beelby. Elizabeth (Brian) Hutchison and Jack of South Bend, Indiana.
Ron attended Michigan State University on an ROTC scholarship and received a bachelor's degree. He proudly served our country in the Army Medical Core, stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. After the military, he moved to Elmhurst, Illinois when he worked at Sunbeam. While there, he attended the University of Chicago and received his master's degree in Business Administration. In 1966 he then moved to South Bend Indiana and worked for IDS. He owned several rental properties. He and Helen also owned and managed a small restaurant across from John Adams High School called "Ronnie's Dairy King." For a major part of his life he also managed a Camera store. He eventually purchased the business and renamed it Circle Camera, one being within Scottsdale Mall. He loved all aspects of photography and that passion is where he established and developed many friendships, until retirement. He went on to sell Foster Grant sunglasses, and was a product sampler at Meijer for many years.
For fun and pleasure went on a few cruises, including Barefoot cruises on the Yankee Clipper traveling the Caribbean and taking his family to Cancun, Mexico. He made many trips to Canada to fish with the family and enjoyed many shore lunches when fishing in Canada with his family.
Family and friends may visit from 10:00 am – 11:00am at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Friday, April 19, 2024, located at 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, Indiana 46561. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with inurnment of his ashes to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
