Obituary

Ronald R. "Jake" McCaslin, age 60, of Mishawaka, went home to be with the Lord on Wed. December 10, 2014. Ron was born December 24, 1953 in South Bend, Indiana to the late William and Cennie "Elsie" (Bean) McCaslin. On November 3, 1971, he married Marilyn Kay England in Elkhart, Indiana. They recently celebrated 43 years of marriage.
His wife Marilyn survives, along with their three daughters; Angela K. McCaslin of Mishawaka, Sharon (Nick) Evers of Lewis Center, Ohio, and Roni (Bill) Peck of Mishawaka. Also surviving are five grandchildren; William "Bubby" Peck, Riley Peck, Edward Peck, Luke Evers, and Nora Evers. Ron is also survived by his siblings, Bill (Betsy) McCaslin of Elkhart, Michael (Carol) McCaslin of Roseland, Janet McCaslin of Elkhart, Daisy (Brian) Bright of Niles, Michigan and Sharon Hill of Mishawaka.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Monday, December 15, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. There will also be one hour of calling prior to the 11:00 am funeral service on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 with Rev. J. Mark Muncy and Rev. Elwood Adams presiding. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Ron was a graduate of Jimtown High School, class of 1972. He was employed for many years as a truck driver at Stripco Sales in Mishawaka. In his younger years, he raced at local speedways, and is an avid fan of NASCAR. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and most of all, being a Grandpa. He was known as a generous man who would help others in their time of need.
He also served as Pastor at the Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of God for two and a half years, and was a longtime member of the Ireland Road Church of God where he played the bass guitar with the praise band, and served on the Pastor''s Council for several terms.
Ron used his talent for gospel music to witness to others for many years, singing throughout the United Sates with The McCaslins, The SonShiners, and Safe Harbor.
