Obituary

Roy "Gene" E. Lehman, 91, of Osceola, passed away at 8:15 pm, Saturday, September 27, 2014 in Darden Place of South Bend. Gene was born on October 8, 1922, the son of Oscar and Minnie Lehman. On June 20, 1942 he married LaVerne Fischer. She passed away on February 8, 2010. He is survived by his daughter, Shirley (Mike) Schalk of Roseland, two granddaughters, Holly (Makaika) Mwachande of Osceola and Laurie Lehman of South Bend and a great grandson, Limbani. He is also survived by two sisters in law, Lorraine Witter of Mishawaka and Doris Lehman of Elkhart, son in law, Greg Ritter of Osceola and two nieces, Karen Kajzer and Fay Myers, both of South Bend. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons, Larry and Duane, and seven brothers and three sisters. Gene proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for the former Uniroyal for 42 years before his retirement. He was a member of the VFW Post 360. He enjoyed camping, traveling to Florida, NASCAR and boxing. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 2, 2014 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
