Roy Junior Woods, 82, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 21, 1944, in Oakland, Mississippi, Roy was the son of the late Herman (Roy) and Addie Mae (Degunion) Woods. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Jo Woods (Imus); his son, Alroy Woods; sisters, Anna Powell and Linda Woods; and brothers, Jesse Woods and Theo Woods.

Roy was raised in the Pentecostal faith and lived a life full of quiet adventure and simple joys. He had a keen eye for nature and found peace in fishing and bird watching. A modern explorer at heart, he loved shopping on Amazon—always curious and up for discovering something new.

He is survived by his children: son Thomas Woods; daughters Nancy Woods (Richard Weidner), Brenda Woods, and Patricia Woods. His legacy continues through his 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Roy is also survived by his brother, John Woods, and sister, Myrine (Eddy) Stewart.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private burial will be held at a later date at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Roy will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family.
