Elkhart- Ruby Elizabeth Deafenbaugh, age 99, passed away at Center for Hospice at Esther's House in Elkhart on August 22, 2024, with her loving family beside her.

She was born April 14, 1925, in Davidson County, Tennessee to the late Bernice (Jones) Gooding. Her family moved to Indiana, where she has lived her whole lifetime.

She was married to the late Theodore Fon Deafenbaugh, who passed away in 2002. She was also preceded in death by a son, Ted Allen Deafenbaugh, who died in 2021, daughter, Cynthia Bruggner, who died in 2020, a brother, Ralph G. Edward, and a half-sister Judy Bloxson.

Ruby graduated from John Adams High School in 1943. She was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church in Elkhart and enjoyed dancing with the Rockerettes at the YWCA up to her 90th year of "living it up".  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by a grand-daughter, Amanda (Michael) Rospopo of Elkhart and Jeffrey (Jennifer Banister) Whitmer of Tennessee. Also surviving are 6 great grand-children and 4 great great grand-children.

Memorials may be given to The Center for Hospice in Elkhart.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
