Ruby L. Hancock, age 83, of South Bend, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Ironwood Health & Rehab Center in South Bend. Ruby was born September 24, 1929 to the late William and Audrey (Wood) Wiseman in Glasgow, Montana. On January 21, 1949, she married Gilbert Hancock in South Bend. They celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Surviving is her husband Gilbert, of South Bend, and their children, Joyce Swain of Granger, Chris (Phil) McClure of South Bend, and Susan Gorsett of LaCrosse, Wi. Also surviving are four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, as well as her brother Glen (Sherry) Wiseman a sister-in-law Joann Wiseman, and several nieces and nephews. Ruby was preceded in death by a stillborn son in 1968, and her grandson Paul Swain, as well as her siblings Lawrence Wiseman, Grace Kollar, Harold Wiseman, Donna Wren, Lester Wiseman, and Dorothy Simon.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 2:00 pm funeral service on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
She and her husband Gilbert had lived in Florida for many years prior to returning home to South Bend. She enjoyed gardening, and holding the title of "The Best Cook in the World" as bestowed upon her by her husband. She also enjoyed camping and spending time with her family.
