Obituary

Russell E. Johnson, 62 of Osceola and formerly of Terre Haute, died Sunday August 4, 2013 at St. Joseph Medical Center with his loving wife at his side. The West Terre Haute native was born May 7, 1951 to John & Dorothy (Carmen) Johnson, who have preceded him in death. Russ honorably served in the US Army in Vietnam. On December 21, 1996, he married the love of his life, Patricia A. Willard. Russ worked as a delivery driver for Martin''s Central Bakery and had formerly worked at Monaco Coach in Elkhart. He was a life member of VFW Post 972 and a former quartermaster for American Legion Post 40, both of Terre Haute. Russ was an avid golfer and a Blackhawks, White Sox and Bears fan. He loved IU Basketball as well as softball. In recent years, he coached and umpired girl''s softball at Eastside Little League. He loved all of "his girls" especially Angela, Maria, Maggie, Mackenzie, Sammy, Alexa, Ki and many, many more. In addition to his parents, Russ was also preceded in death by his brother Steve and sister, Emily. Russ is survived by his wife, Pat; two step-sons, William (Julie) Willard of Granger and Edward (Jennifer) Ashcraft of Bourbon; grandchildren, Hannah & Hayden Willard and Skylar Ashcraft; step-grandchildren, Tyra & Hailey Fakes; brothers, John, Butch, Tom, Walt and Jay, all of Terre Haute and his sister, Mary Lou Rentauskas of Chicago. Friends may call Thursday 5-7pm in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Cremation will follow. Special thanks to ICU nurses Dee & EJ as well as Dr. Ansaarie.
