Ruth Anna Brown, 97, passed away April 17, 2022 after a brief illness. Born in Khedive, Saskatchewan, Canada the middle child of eleven children, she was the daughter of Bertha and Henry Schultz. In 1946 she moved to South Bend, Indiana, where she met and married her husband of 44 years, Clarence, who proceeded him in death. Together they ran a small family grocery store in Mishawaka, Indiana, and managed several houses that had been converted to apartments. After closing the grocery store, Ruth worked part-time at Indiana University South Bend in the Continuing Education department for nearly 20 years. Surviving are her children Randy (Ann) Brown of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Rachelle Brown of Durham, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Christopher Brown, Ashley Brown, and Kaitlynn Brown; four great grandchildren Bridget Brown, Alaynie Cox, Christopher Brown, and Devan Brown; one brother, Henry Schultz. She was proceeded in death by both parents and nine of her siblings. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 22, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 437 E Dragoon Trail, Mishawaka, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation one hour before. Burial immediately following at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
