Ruth Alice Martz, 87, of South Bend, died at 11:50 am, Thursday, September 25, 2014 in Sterling House of South Bend. Ruth was born on October 27, 1926 in South Bend, the daughter of Paul and Alice (Peterson) Hertel. She is survived by her husband, Carl B. Martz of South Bend, son John (Pamela) Martz, Sr. of South Bend; two grandchildren, John (Kimberly) Martz, Jr. of South Bend and Jennifer (Ryan) Frey of Lafayette, IN and a great granddaughter, Mariella Martz. She is also survived by a brother, Paul (Nonie) Hertel of Niles, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jean Adams. Ruth graduated from Riley High School. She was a member of the South Bend Firefighters Auxillary, and Women of the Moose. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, September 29, 2014 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Rev. Stephen Braden will officiate.
