Elkhart, IN – Ruth Ann Neff, 72, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at the Center for Hospice in Elkhart, surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth was born on July 9, 1953, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Franklin and Ethel (Coy) Neff. She graduated from Elkhart High School with the Class of 1972. Ruth was also preceded in death by her beloved partner of 22 years, James Chaney; her siblings, Robert Neff, Phyllis Wedding, Marion Neff, Kenny Neff, and Alice Alexander.
Ruth dedicated 42 years of service to Elkhart Products before retiring. She took great pride in her work and the many friendships she built throughout her career. In her free time, she found joy in life's simple pleasures—working on puzzles, crocheting thoughtful creations for family and friends, tending to her garden, and faithfully mowing her yard. She was a proud member of the Moose Lodge in Elkhart, the DAV in Goshen, and the Eagles in Goshen, where she enjoyed fellowship and community.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Janet Hollingsworth and Carolyn (George) Madison; her stepchildren, Vicky Jones, Jody Maxwell, Cheryl Bradley, and Jim Chaney; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
Ruth's kindness, strength, and quiet devotion to her family will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
