Ruth M. Sellers, 88, of Osceola, passed away at 7:30 am, Friday, August 19, 2011 in her home. She was born on May 24, 1923 in Berrien Springs, MI, the daughter of the late, Edward and Melita (Zelmer) Schmaltz. Ruth has lived in Osceola since 1945. She was a professional Seamstress and loved gardening, cooking and baking. She was married to the late James D. Sellers, Sr. for 67 years, before his passing on February 4, 2010. They belonged to the Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the RV Association of America. Ruth, a gifted musician, played the organ, accordion and guitar.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, James D. (Marsha) Sellers, Jr. of South Bend, granddaughters, Shari L Sellers of Los Angeles, CA and Terri A. (Rigoberto) Olivarez, Sr. of South Bend; seven great grandchildren, Philip, Richmond, Brianna, Paige, Nycole, Madison, and Rigoberto, Jr. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary Jones of Elkhart, Dorothy Friebele of South Bend and Art Schmaltz of Niles, MI.
Private family services have taken place. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway is handing arrangements.
