Obituary

Shirley "Ann" Hardy, age 77, of Mishawaka, passed away at her residence on August 7, 2012. Ann was born November 16, 1934 to the late Lloyd and Esther (Naftzger) West. Following her graduation from Adams High School in 1952, Ann studied nursing at the Gary Methodist School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse. In 1954, she married Don Hardy at the River Park United Methodist Church in South Bend. They were married 57 years and enjoyed spending the winter months together in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida and the Alabama Coast.
Don survives, along with their children Scott (Jane) Hardy of Cassopolis, MI, and Kerri (Bill) Barnes of Constantine, MI. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; Coleman Hardy, Tana Hardy, Timberlee Hardy, Lora Luce, Brian Nelson and Chris Nelson, and 6 great grandchildren. Surviving as well is her brother Rick (Carol) West of Medford, NJ.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, August 10, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Ann was employed for many years helping the handicapped children in the Penn Harris Madison School System, and retired in 2000 from the School City of Mishawaka. She enjoyed knitting, doing puzzles, watching the hummingbirds, and was active in the Osceola Community Players as an actress and director for many years. Ann also was an avid fan of both Penn High School and Notre Dame Football.
In her memory, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
