Sandra E. Gawenda, 86, of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2023 at home.  She was born on Dec. 14, 1936 in Mishawaka, IN to Cecil and Lulu (Smith) Andrews.  She married Jerry Gawenda.  He preceded her in death in 2006.

Sandra is survived by her children: Debbie Lee and Kirk (Cathy) Obren; 2 grandsons, Kevin (Krista) and Todd (Tiffany) Obren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Samra Sue Obren, in 1975, her parents and a brother, Keith Andrews.

She was a member of First Brethren Church.  She retired from AM General after 17 years of employment.  She enjoyed traveling, cooking and shopping.

Friends may visit with the family from 11-1 PM on Saturday June 3, 2023 at First Brethren Church, 4909 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN 46614.  A funeral service in her honor will begin at 1 PM at the church.  Pastor Fred Youngen will officiate.
