Elkhart, Indiana – Sandra "Sandy" Kay Lane, 90, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, at The Waters of Wakarusa, surrounded by her loving family.

Sandy was born in Elkhart to the late Frederick and Beatrice (Noffsinger) Swartz. She graduated from Elkhart High School with the Class of 1954. She was employed by Acra Pac before her retirement.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kelly Moreno; her sister, Barbara Chandler; and her brother, Fred Swartz.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving daughter, Lori Duncan; her son, Rick Lane; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; long time partner Jack Nickson and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her deeply.

She found great joy in cheering on her favorite teams, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bulls. She also enjoyed trips to the casino, participating in turkey shoots, and spending many years as an avid league bowler. At home, she could often be found working crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, Walker Texas Ranger and taking pride in keeping a spotless, welcoming home. Above all, Sandy treasured the time she spent with her family. As a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she created countless memories that will be cherished for generations.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sandy will be laid to rest in Mausoleum Building No. 2 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
