Obituary

Shelley E. Tuggle, age 90 of Vandalia, Michigan, passed away May 22, 2010. Shelley was born June 9, 1919 in Athens, Ohio to the late Ellis and Dora (France) Williams. On October 4, 1946, Shelley was married to James Tuggle in South Bend, Indiana. He preceded her in death, passing away in 1993.

Surviving are her daughters, Shelley Jane (Rod) Paine of Purcellville, VA, and Mary Elizabeth Tuggle of Vandalia, MI. Also surviving are her step children; Ray Tuggle, Kenneth Tuggle, and Darlene Byers, all of Covington, IN, and her siblings, Marvin (Alice) Williams, LeRoy (Lillie) Williams, Ellis (Ruth) Williams, Rufus Williams, and Elsie (Ralph) Crowe. Shelley is also survived by several step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceding Shelley in death were her step-sons, Roy and Ronnie Tuggle, and her brothers Leo and Clifford Williams.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Shelley was a graduate of the class of 1937 from Lindsey High School in Portsmouth, Ohio, and attended South Western Michigan College. She was employed by Ball Band and Featherbone during the WWII era, Welded Products, Rolling Hills Bird Farm in Marcellus, MI, and most recently at the Movie Center. During her working career, she and her husband James also ran a family farm. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, caring for her neighbors, antiquing, and traveling to various places with tour groups. Among the places she visited were Alaska and most of the United States, Canada, England and Australia.
