Shelvia Jean Jones, 73, of Elkhart, Indiana, was born on November 30, 1951, to Jessie May and Jessie Jones. She peacefully departed this life on November 14, 2025, at Elkhart General Hospital.

She found joy in spending time with her family and friends. Shelvia loved sharing good meals—especially crab legs, catfish, ribs, and her famous fried chicken. She cherished watching action movies with her daughter, Stacy, and spending precious time with her grandchildren.
Shelvia was a loving mother, grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was deeply loved by all who knew her, and her warm spirit will be greatly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Latoya "Stacy" Jones; her sons Terry Len Jones, Timmy "Chucky" (Tasha) Jones, and Kenny "Boleg" Jones; her godsons Marylon (Treniece) Farr, Timothy Farr, and Luis Ochoa; and her goddaughters Metral (Phillip) Binion, Synitha Billings, Vicki E. Harris, and Kawodi Farr and Yamieka Samelton.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and dear friends including Sharon Causey; Joyce Wysong, Olga, and Mary Jane; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and associates.
Shelvia was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie May and Jessie Jones, and her sisters Margaret Ann Jones Gray and Bernice Marie James.

I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day, to laugh,
To love, to work or play.
Tasks undone must stay that way
I've found that peace at the close of the day.
If parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah, yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savoured much
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me,
God wants me now,
He set me free.
