Shirley Jean (LaRowe) Chastain, 81, of Edgerton, OH, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones in her home on August 17, 2020, in Elkhart, IN.

Shirley was born in Edgerton, OH to Frederick "Claude" and Jessie "Alvada" (Brown) LaRowe on November 13, 1938. She loved to attend both of her sons after school activities as well as her grandchildren's sporting activities. She enjoyed being a member of Winding Waters church and their choir. After retiring from many years in the manufacturing field, Shirley enjoyed working in her yard and growing flowers and vegetables. When she was younger, she participated in 4H competitions showing her livestock with her siblings and received many trophies and awards. There were never enough hours in a day for all the cleaning she wanted to do or the amount of tea she wanted to drink.

Shirley is preceded in death by her brother Jim LaRowe of LaOtto, IN. She is survived by her sisters Barbara (Tom) Fletcher of Arvada, CO, Jane (nephew Schuyler Merritt) of Redding, CT and sister-in-law Sandy (Jim) LaRowe (nephews Curtis LaRowe and Daniel LaRowe of Avilla, IN and niece Kimberly (LaRowe) M ishler of Howe, IN. he r sons, Chuck (Rachel) Chastain of Peru, IN and Gene Chastain of Elkhart, IN; her grandchildren, Charissa Fletcher, Drew Chastain of Elkhart, IN, Jake (Junell) Chastain of Oklahoma City, OK, Carmen Chastain of Indianapolis, IN, Hanah Benedict, Abigail Mast, Logan Mast of Elkhart, IN and Michael Chastain of Peru, IN; great-grandchildren, Kaylynn Fletcher, Lylah Fletcher, Ryler Benedict and Oliver Ely of Elkhart, IN and Nevaeh Benedict of Peru, IN.
