Shirley A. McCartney, 78, of Osceola, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Born in Pierceton on July 4, 1932 to Wilson G. and Fern Gertrude (Fries) Rider, she graduated in the class of 1951 from Mishawaka High School. On July 1, 1951, she married Norman W. McCartney. Shirley retired as Assistant Supervisor of the Catalog Dept. at Sears, Roebuck & Co. She attended Cedar Road United Missionary Church, was the past-president of the Ladies'' Auxiliary of the Osceola Fire Dept. and she enjoyed camping & fishing. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Norman McCartney of Osceola; her sons, Terry W. (Wanda) McCartney of Osceola and Dudley (Cheryl) Rider of Elkhart; her daughter, Darlene (Stephen) Van Rie of Conyers, GA; her grandchildren, Tammy L. McCartney of Osceola, Carrie (Todd) Whitterberry of Osceola, Kurt A. Van Rie of Panama City, FL, Ginny L. Van Rie of Conyers, GA, Kelly J. Rider of Goshen, Jaime (Jason) Stacy of Goshen and her great-grandchildren, Austin Raab, Kara Stacy and Connor Stacy. Funeral Services 10:00AM Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8pm in the funeral home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family''s preferred memorial is Cedar Rd. United Missionary Church.
