Specialist Charles Andrew Young, age 24, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 in Temple Texas. Charles was born June 30, 1986 in South Bend, Indiana. A graduate of the Concord High School, class of 2004, Charles went on to enlist in the United States Army in 2006, where he served with the 15th Military Intelligence Battalion, Ft. Hood Texas. His many awards include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
Surviving is his father, Charles R. Young of South Bend, and his mother, Lori (Doug) Slisher of Mishawaka. Charles is also survived by his siblings, Amie Baker and Angel (Anthony) Elkins, both of Mishawaka, Ashley Young of Ohio, and Sherita Cobb, of California and Robert Young of Ohio. Also surviving are 5 nieces and nephews.
Friends may call one hour prior to the 2:00 pm memorial service on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola.
Charles was an avid chess player, and enjoyed watching movies and listening to music. He was a talented artist, sculptor and painter and had studied philosophy. Charles had a great sense of humor, and loved being with his nieces and nephews.
