Obituary

Stanley J. Suski, age 78, of Granger passed away on April 24, 2017 at 3:50 PM at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN. He was born August 27, 1938 to Stanley and Alice (Rybick) Suski in South Bend, Indiana. On July 30, 1960, Stanley married Iva Barrett. She survives. Stanley worked for Lumber Specialties in various capacities. He started with unloading boxcars, truck driver and then as a mechanic. He invented a conveyor system that assisted with the processing of the lumber. Stan and his wife Iva opened their own business, Granger Lawnmower Place, where they have served their community for many years. His greatest joy was racing Super Modified and Late Model racecars. Stan built, maintained, and raced cars at most of the local race tracks. He also enjoyed Modified Lawn Tractor racing. If he needed a tool, he would fabricate his tools before he would go out and buy them. Stan was a Volunteer Fireman with the Harris Township Fire Department where he worked up through the ranks and eventually was the Chief. He enjoyed line dancing, history, and would take 8mm movies and transfer them to DVDs. Stan loved his wife and family and enjoyed spending time with them. Stanley is survived by his wife, of 56 years, Iva; his sons, Steve (Mary Jo) Suski of Little Rock, AR, Scott (Debra) Suski and Stacy Suski both of Mishawaka; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his siblings, Ralph (Diane) Suski, Tony (Kaye) Suski, Mary Hanna, and Betty (Paul) Winslow. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Paul, Frank, Danny, and Bill Suski, Irene Hess, and Nancy Gambee. Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 4-8 PM and one hour prior to the service at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561. There will be a funeral service in Mr. Suski''s honor Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2 PM at the funeral home with Reverend Monsignor William Schooler officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you visit your local race track in memory of Stan and keep the sport alive.
