Thelma Williams, age 85, of Elkhart, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011, following an extended illness. Mrs. Williams was born September 14, 1926 in Tchula, Mississippi to the late John and Luvenia (Lipsey) Bridges. On December 10, 1949, she married Louis Williams in Oklahoma County, Mississippi.
He survives, along with their children, Thomas Williams of Florida, Cleo Williams Curtis Williams, Hobbie Barham, Ethel Jackson, and Rosie Williams, all of Elkhart, and Martin and Simpson Joshua, both of Gary, Indiana. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren. Thelma was preceded in death by her children Johnnie B. Edwards, John L. Williams, and Martha Jean Williams, as well as several brothers and sisters.
There will be one hour of visitation prior to the 1:00 pm funeral service at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 11, 2011.
Thelma loved to listen to music, and dance. She enjoyed cooking, playing BINGO and reading. She was a hard worker, and loved to spend time with her family.
