Timothy (Tim) Jay Miller, 66, of South Bend, Indiana passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born on July 3,1960, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Roy Miller and Janice (Ball) Jackman. He is survived by his daughter, Mackenzie Miller; his mother, Janice Jackman; his siblings, Pamala (Miller) Evans, Thomas Miller and his wife, Denise, and Penny (Miller) Hall; his sister-in-law, Dawn Miller; and his life partner, Jenni Kulchar. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Miller, stepfather, Lowell Jackman, and brother, Theodore Miller.

Tim spent most of his life in the South Bend area. He attended James Whitcomb Riley High School and graduated in 1979. He worked as a carpenter for nearly 30 years and was a proud member of the Carpenters Local 413. Tim was highly skilled in his craft, and he was especially proud of his work on the Studebaker Museum, Elkhart General Hospital, and the house he built for his family.

Sports were an important part of Tim’s life. Growing up he played football, basketball, baseball, and softball. He excelled in baseball, even trying out for a professional team after high school. He played softball through his 20s, going on to win the ASA Indiana Semi-State Championship in 1986 and 1987. His love of softball was passed on to his daughter, and he enjoyed coaching her and watching her play. Tim was an avid Notre Dame football fan and attended many games, including the iconic Green Jersey Game in 1977 and the Notre Dame vs. Miami game in 1988. He also enjoyed cheering for the Chicago Bears.

Tim loved music and spent countless hours listening to and collecting vinyl records. He also loved the experiences he had while traveling, particularly his trips to Hawaii, Ireland, and Hong Kong. He was proud of these experiences and often spoke fondly of the memories he made.

Tim was a compassionate and loving man whose presence brought warmth, joy, and laughter to everyone around him. He had a gift for making people laugh and bringing lightness to life’s most difficult moments. He was a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, and he cherished the time he spent with his family. Being a father was one of the greatest joys of Tim’s life, and he took exceptional pride in his daughter and loved being an uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Throughout his nearly two-year battle with cancer, Tim’s optimism and positive outlook never faltered. Tim remained a source of light and strength to those around him, inspiring many with his resilience, humor, and unwavering spirit.
