Tommy D. Teeter, 63, of Middlebury, IN, passed away suddenly of complications ( septicemia ) from an auto immune dysfunction caused by chemo therapy treatment for CLL at Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI. He is survived by his mother Ruby Parrish Teeter, His beloved wife Jacquie Trump Teeter, two sisters, and two sons, Tommy Dee Teeter Jr. ( Shannon) and Scott Teeter ( Sheila ) six granddaughters Taylor, Morgan Mackensie, Madison, Macayla and Melayna. One grandson Payton, three step children, Dustin, Spencer and Sarah. And one step grandson, Levi Tommy served in the Army for thirty years and retired as a well decorated E-7, Sergeant First Class. He worked for Mishawaka Utilities as a journeyman lineman forman and retired in 2007 after thirty years of service.
He umpired for more than twenty five years. His umpiring included softball, baseball, and Babe Ruth. He bowled for more than thirty years in several leagues and was a member of numerous organizations and charities. He was always there to lend a hand for anyone in need.
A great outdoorsman, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, camping, fishing, rendezvous and black powder shooting. He was proud of his Cherokee ancestry and a member of the Southern Cherokee Nation of Kentucky, The Chickamauga Cherokee''s of Florida, The AMAA and OMMA ( Mtis ) He was Chief of the All Nations Band of Mtis in Northern Indiana. Tommy enjoyed pow wow drumming and Native American functions with his wife, family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, mentor, friend, and hero. He will be forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday March 27th, at the American Legion Post 161.133 East Mishawaka Ave. Mishawaka, IN. from 2 - 8 pm.
A 21 gun salute will be held at 3pm. Regalia welcomed.
