Obituary

Mishawaka – Mr. Uldis Pavitols, 85, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, following a period of declining health due to complications from Parkinsons disease.

Uldis was born on June 3, 1940, in Durbe, Latvia, to the late Fricis and Fanija (Kundzins) Pavitols. He was also preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Christopher Waddell. Uldis proudly served his country in the United States Army, a commitment that reflected his strong sense of duty and gratitude for the life he built here.

On January 15, 1977, in Des Moines, Iowa, Uldis married the love of his life, Brigita (Kalnins) Pavitols. Their marriage of 49 years was a beautiful example of devotion, partnership, and enduring love. Uldis was a dedicated husband and a proud, caring father whose family always came first.

He found joy in life's simple pleasures—cheering on his beloved Chicago Bears, watching sports on television, and faithfully keeping up with his favorite show, NCIS. He also enjoyed listening to music, especially Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles and Three Dog Night. Time spent at home with family was where he was happiest.

Uldis is survived by his loving wife, Brigita Pavitols; his children, Ingrid Horne (Randy Wagers), Amanda Pavitols (Joshua Atwood), Kathrine Smolnik, and William Headley (Laura); eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many friends and associates who will remember him fondly.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in the spring of 2026, with details to be announced at a later date.
Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Indiana, is entrusted with arrangements.
