Obituary

Vance B. "Cub" Cole Sr., age 78, of Osceola, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. Vance was born January 1, 1936 in Knox, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his father, Enoch Cole and his mother, Ruby Mae (Arnett) Cole Jimerson. He graduated from North Liberty High School in 1954. Vance worked for many years as a supervisor at Four Winds International in Elkhart until his retirement in 1998. He was also the co-owner of the Wooden Shoe Bar and Grill in Mishawaka for several years.
Surviving are his children, Jonathan Cole of Phoenix, Arizona, Rachel Cole Vance B. (Kim) Cole Jr., Adam D. Cole, and Steven M. Cole, all of Osceola. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; Zack Cole, Bridget Cole, Sydney Cole, Connor Cole, Reegan Cole and Brady Cole. Surviving as well are his siblings, Edgar Cole, Russell Jimerson, Lonnie W. Jimerson, Mary Runyon, Stella Mae Samuels, Donna K. Gouker and Phyllis Jimerson, and his former wives Eleanor Patrick and Deborah Cole. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joni Lea Cole and his siblings Clyde Cole, Don "Pete" Jimerson, Dorothy Kaser, and Virgie Eaton.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Chapel Hill with entombment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
First and foremost, Vance''s world revolved around his children and grandchildren. He was a hard worker who loved spending time outdoors in his garden or working in his yard, and he possessed a vast knowledge of carpentry and mechanics. In his spare time, he enjoyed writing and reading poetry and listening to music from the Rock and Roll and Country Western eras. He was also an avid fan of boxing, college basketball, NASCAR and Notre Dame Football.
