IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Velda R.
Eiswald
November 20, 1933 – May 8, 2023
Velda Ruth (Bailes) Eiswald was born in Glendale, CA on
November 20, 1933, to Albert and Ruby Bailes.
Her sister Diana Douglas, and her brother Albert Bailes, both preceded
her in death.
When Velda was 15 years old, she eloped with the love of her
life, Richard Eiswald! They were married in Kingman, AZ on July 29, 1949, and
sent his parents a telegram which read, "To say good-bye, we couldn't do! On Monday, we'll be seeing you. Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Eiswald." They made their home
on the St. Joseph River in Mishawaka for ten years, and then they bought a
small family/fishing resort in Hackensack, MN, which they successfully operated
for three seasons. They returned to the St. Joseph River, and lived out the
remainder of their years there, and in Marcellus, MI. on Big Fish Lake.
Velda was the receptionist for Dr. David Lehman Sr, DDS, in
Elkhart, IN for 27 years, where she won the admiration of all of his family,
staff, and patients!!
She devoted her life to her husband for 68 years, and her
family has always been her greatest joy….and she has been theirs!!! She had the unique ability to make everyone
believe that they were her favorite….because they were!!
She truly loved Jesus, her Savior, first and best, and she
served Him faithfully all of her adult life!
Her faith journey included Twin Branch Bible Church, Howardsville Bible
Chapel, Faith Community and Osceola Grace Church. She sang in the choirs, serve
on Women's Ministry teams, helped at Daily Vacation Bible School, went on
Mission Trips, and faithfully attended Life Groups and Bible Studies. She was also a volunteer for Ribbon of Hope,
in Elkhart. As a cancer survivor, she
loved serving and encouraging cancer patients who were deeply touched through
that ministry.
Her heart was always ready to listen; her hands, ready to
serve. Her arms were always giving
someone a hug, and a word of encouragement and blessing was always on her
lips. She lived her life with great
intentionality to the very end; with purpose, and on purpose, and with immeasurable
beauty and grace!!
She is survived by her daughter, Lori (Carl) Reichanadter,
of Elkhart, and her son, Don (Debbie) Eiswald of Thermopolis, WY, as well as 8
Grandchildren, 21 Great grandchildren, and 5 Great-Great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, June 9th,
from 5:00-7:00 pm at Osceola Grace Church, 58343 S. Apple Road, Osceola, IN
46561, where her Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow.
Contributions can be made to Osceola Grace Church, and arrangements
are being entrusted to Chapel Hill.
Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy[b] shall
follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in
the house of the Lord forever."
