Velma Jean Fayne, age 59, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 6, 2012 after a brief illness. Velma was born January 20, 1953 in Tipton, Tennessee to the late Eunice Earl Sr. and Mary Ellen (Phillips) Fayne. She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1972, and was self employed in the Elkhart area for many years. Velma loved to work, serve others and lend a hand to anyone in need.

Surviving is her son, Vashon M. Fayne of Elkhart, and her siblings, Mary Ann Daniels of Salt Lake City, Utah, Charles Wayne Fayne, Bobby Louis Fayne, both of Elkhart, David Fayne of Goshen, Larry LaVelle Fayne of Salt Lake City, Utah, Charles Smith of Atoka, Tennessee, Rosie Degraffreed, and Marilyn Smith, both of Elkhart. Also surviving are a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the 1:00 pm Funeral Service on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the St. James AME Church, 122 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, Elkhart, Indiana 46516. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Velma Fayne fund at any Chase Bank location, for assistance with final expenses.
