Vera Mae Gorce, 86, of Elkhart, passed away at 7:00 pm, Thursday, October 27, 2011 in Greenleaf Nursing Home, Elkhart. Vera was born on July 21, 1925 in Elkhart, the daughter of the late Carl A. and Rachel M. (Rowe) Rees. On July 20, 1953, she married Louis V. Gorce, who passed away on August 25, 1979. She is also preceded in death by a son, Gary T. Gorce in 1991, two sisters, Peggy Weaver and Annabelle Sue Laughman, and a brother, Carl L. Rees.
She is survived by her son, Ted (Nickie) Gorce of St. Augustine, FL and two sisters, Carleene (Bernard) Slough and Rachel Miller, both of Elkhart.
Vera was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Elkhart. She will be remembered for her love of laughter, family, gardening and crocheting.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, with one hour of visitation, from 1:00-2:00 pm, prior to the service. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
