Verble L. Ditto, age 94, of South Bend, Indiana went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 2:15 pm. Verble was born October 25, 1915 to the late Forest W. and Nora E. (Hicks) VanBussum in Henderson, Kentucky. On January 20, 1935, Verble was united in marriage to John T. Ditto in Illinois. John preceded her in death, passing away on July 8, 1993.
Surviving are her children, Tom Ditto and his wife Becky of Granger, Indiana and Patti Finley and her husband Kemp of South Bend, Indiana. Also surviving is one brother, Bob VanBussum and his wife Jeanette of Henderson, Kentucky, along with two grandchildren, Jason Ditto and his wife Jodi, and Sarah Hogberg and her husband Matt. Surviving as well are three great grandchildren, Carter and Coleman Hogberg, and Drew Miller. Verble was preceded in death by her siblings, Clyde VanBussum, Forest William VanBussum, Louise Harris, and Nellie Caughran.
There will be one hour of calling prior to the 11:00 am Memorial Service on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Community Baptist Church, 5715 Miami Street, South Bend, IN 46614. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements, and interment is in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Indiana.
Verble was a homemaker. She was also a longtime member of Community Baptist Church in South Bend, and was deeply committed to Christ, her husband, and her children. In her memory, contributions may be given to the Community Baptist Church.
