Verna Elizabeth Harrington, 92, of South Bend, passed away at 8:00 am, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 surrounded by family. Verna was born on October 3, 1921 in Noble Co., IN, the daughter of the late Charles P. and Nora C. (Stover) Rigel. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, John W. Harrington of South Bend; one daughter, Sonya Harrington of Mishawaka and five sons, Darrell (Joan) Drudge of South Bend, Dennis (Vickie) Drudge of Jimtown, Gregory (Marsha) Harrington of Rolling Prairie, IN, John W. Harrington, Jr. of Mishawaka, and Garry (Brenda) Harrington of Elkhart. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Daniel Drudge and siblings, Harry Rigel, Marion Eby, and Mildred Burns. Verna was a member Evangel Heights United Methodist Church of South Bend and had worked for Burcliff Industries and Martin''s Supermarket. She was an excellent wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be remembered as a thoughtful and loving person who blessed people with food and generosity. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Friday, January 17, 2014 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 18, 2014 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
