Violet S. Warner-Jurgenson, age 105, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at Golden Living Center, Fountainview in Mishawaka. Violet''s life began December 20, 1906 in Furnessville, Indiana, the daughter of the late John and Minnie (Tharp) Fredericks. Violet was lucky in love when she united in marriage to Hugh Warner from 1921 until his death in 1959. She found another wonderful man in 1961 when she married Donald Jurgenson. They enjoyed 38 years of marriage until his death in 1999.
Surviving are her loving children Madalyn (George) Scott, Kathryn (Edgar) Williams David (Marylou) Jurgenson and Donald (Candace) Jurgenson. Also surviving is her daughter in law, Anna Faye Warner, 21 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, 56 great-great grandchildren, and 9 great-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Hugh Warner Jr. and her siblings Georgiana, Elsie, John, Forest, and Dennis.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, where there will be a Amaranth Memorial Service at 3:00 pm. Rev. David Hendricks will officiate the 11:00 am funeral service on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, and interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Violet was employed by AT&T (formerly Ma Bell) for many years until her retirement in 1965. She was a member of several fraternal organizations, including: Order of the Amaranth, Court #11 South Bend where she served as the Royal Matron, the Order of the Eastern Star Valley Chapter #594 where she served as the Worthy Matron, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, and the Royal Neighbors.
Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, handcrafts, cooking and her favorite past time was shopping for beautiful new clothes. Violet was also a longtime member of the Prince of Peace Brethren Church in South Bend. In her memory, donations may be made to the Center for Hospice 111 Sunnybrook Ct. South Bend, IN 46637.
