Virginia K. "Bev" Johnston, 76, of Elkhart, died Tuesday September 22, 2015. The Dansville MI native was born April 19, 1939 and was the daughter of Orla J. & Lula (Kneale) Oakley. On November 13, 1976, she married Charles L. Johnston in Elkhart. Bev was retired and was an avid Notre Dame & NASCAR fan; she enjoyed tending to her hummingbirds, watching old westerns and reading books by Louis L''Amour. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Brooks. She is survived by Charlie Johnston, her beloved husband of 38 years; her children, Patty Ropson in Wisconsin, Vicky (Charles) Yarger of Stanton MI, Paula (Bennie) Stanford of Fisk MO, Robin (Mark)Wrathell & P.J. (Angie) Schoenborn, both of Elkhart, Chuck Johnston & Steve (Tina) Johnston, both of Lyons MI, Tammy (Lauren) Huhn of Hubbardston MI, Jessica Johnston of Three Rivers MI and Jennifer (Rob) Hall of Elkhart; her siblings, Cheryl Hooker and Roger (Jenny) Hooker, both of Three Rivers MI; 49 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. A memorial gathering & reception to celebrate Bev''s life, will be held at 4:00 Saturday September 26, 2015 in the family residence, 1706 Lane Ave. in Elkhart.
