Obituary

Harry Wallace "Wally" Yeoman, 75, passed away Sunday morning at Inwood Hills Estates. Wally was born on September 2, 1935 in Rensselaer, Indiana to Harry and Janna Yeoman who both preceded him in death. He married Marilyn L.Martin on June 15, 1957 in Rensselaer. Wally & Marilyn celebrated 50 years of marriage before her death in 2007. Wally is survived by his three sons, Trent (Becky) Yeoman, Cory (Shawn) Yeoman and Todd (Kim) Yeoman and eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kara, Derick, Erin, Tyler, Gary, Melina and Gabe, all of Mishawaka. Wally graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1953 and Purdue University in 1957. He also received his masters degree from Purdue. Prior to moving to Mishawaka in 1971, he was a high school Social Studies teacher and coach at Rensselaer High School for 2 years; Marion High School for 2 years, Decatur High School for 2 years and Bedford High School for 6 years. He served as the head football coach while at Decatur and Bedford. While in Mishawaka, Wally taught at Penn High School and was an assistant football, wrestling and track coach. He helped the Kingsmen earn 5 State Championships as well as several Semi-State, Regional and Sectional Championships and had the pleasure of mentoring many outstanding young people. In 1993, he was selected as a member of the North South All Star team staff. In 2002, he was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame. Wally retired from teaching in 1995 but continued to coach football for several more years. While at Penn, he coached each of his sons and then had the pleasure of coaching with them as they joined the Penn football staff. After retiring, Wally & Marilyn enjoyed the "Snow-bird" lifestyle; spending the winter months in Ft. Myers, FL with several very dear friends. They loved spending time with their family & friends, traveling, camping and enjoyed watching their grandchildren participate in various activities. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 Friday, July 15, 2011 in Osceola United Methodist Church, 431 N. Beech Road, with calling one hour prior to services. Calling also 4-8pm Thursday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. The family's preferred memorial is Osceola United Methodist Church.
