Obituary

Walter L. Crowder, 91, of Goshen passed away Feb. 21 after battling congestive heart failure.
Walt was born on Jan. 6, 1923 to Herman and Effie (Fox) Crowder of Asheville NC. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki (Bart) McGlinsey; son, Mark Crowder, both of Elkhart; sisters, Ora Mae Laws; Goshen, Ava Langford and Helen Quakenbush of NC, and Ruth Edmonds of SC. He also leaves behind his closest friend Pauleen Moody of
Goshen as well as 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Walt was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Fowler) Crowder and his previous wife of 23 years, Hazel (Bole) Crowder; a daughter, Wanda Luther; and brother and sisters of NC, Roy Crowder, Alma Williams , Leota Brown,
Glenis Rice and Wilma Evans.
Walter served in the Navy during WWII from 1944 to 1946. He retired from the Indiana Toll Road in 1985 after
25 years of service.
Walter stayed active until the last few years with projects ranging from helping roof a church to volunteering with Real Services. He spread lots of smiles and laughter with his witty responses and ornery personality.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Family Worship Center at the Lighthouse 306 S. 27th St. Goshen IN 46528.
He is very much loved and will be truly missed by those whom were closest to him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Family Worship Center at the Lighthouse.
