Walter J. Holcomb Jr. age 74 of New Paris, IN, died Oct. 15, 2012. Walter was born April 3, 1938 in South Bend, IN to the late Walter and June Holcomb.
Surviving is his wife, Georgia Holcomb of New Paris, and his daughter, Lori (Terry Beverly) Holcomb of Elkhart. Also surviving are his children, Sue, Terri, Diana, Tony and Rick. He was preceded in death by his daughter Robin Cole. Also surviving is his sister Sharon Phillips of CA, 16 grandchildren, Keya, Kylie, Jarrod, Todd, Chris, Chrissy, Candace, Josh, Brandon, Leah, Rickey, Rose, Dustin,Alex, Lee and Travis, and 8 great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Chloe, Cameron, Grayson, Mallory, Austin, Colton, and Jayla.
Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the 2:00 pm funeral service on Mon. Oct. 22, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
There will be a benefit for Walter beginning at 6pm Saturday, Oct. 20 at New Paris Speedway, where Walter was involved as the overseer of the day to day events for many years. Walter loved racing, and had just returned from the Winchester race the day before he passed away. He was very social, as he managed the B&B in Osceola for many years, and he was also quite family oriented, and loved his grandchildren, friends, and his "racetrack" family as well. He also enjoyed camping, and going for rides with his family.
