Niles, MI – Wanda May Vanderboegh, 87, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on August 29, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana.

Wanda was born on February 6, 1939, in Cambria, Illinois, to the late Harold Hines and Helen (Keller) Brammell. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary, Peggy, Diane, Deloris, and Cleora, and her brother, Alford Hines.

Wanda was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1957. Following high school, she married Edward Walton on December 28, 1957. They shared many years together until his passing in 1997. Wanda later met and married Phil Vanderboegh on October 16, 1999. Phil preceded her in death in 2017.

Wanda cherished her family above all else and treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Katherine (Steve) Hummer and Edward (Wanda) Walton; grandchildren, Katie (Jeff) Underly, Sara (Zach) Christman, and Michael Hummer; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Owen, and Ellie; brother, Dale Hines; and sisters, Ruby Southworth and Linda (Bud) Edholm.

Our beloved Granny, affectionately known as Gigi to her great-grandchildren, will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, and hardworking spirit.

She found joy in working with her hands and took great pride in her garden and beautiful roses. She was an accomplished crafter who enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and creating handmade food canning treasures for those she loved. She was also a lifelong learner, never afraid to take on a new challenge.

Granny was always willing to lend a helping hand and was there whenever she was needed. Her genuine smile and caring nature made everyone around her feel welcomed and loved.

Above all, family was at the heart of her life. She leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love, kindness, determination, and hard work that will continue through the generations.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

She will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Devotion in Osceola, Indiana.

Though she is deeply missed, her memory will live on in the flowers she lovingly tended, the handmade treasures she created, and most importantly, in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Her hands may be still, but the love she gave so freely will never fade.
