Wilburn E. Laster, 89, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 2:30 am, Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in Morning View Nursing and Rehabilitation, South Bend, IN Wilburn was born in Shiloh, AR on June 6, 1924, the son of James and Susie (Pulley) Laster. On August 25, 1949, he married Verneal L. Russell. She passed away on May 18, 2009. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Frieda Scott. He is survived by two children, Sue (Art) Leinen of Edwardsburg, MI and Jerry (Kathy) Laster of Siloam Springs, AR. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kim (Chris) Raab of Edwardsburg, MI, Chip (Virginia) Leinen and Patrick (Dianna) Leinen, both of South Bend, Kristen Laster of Dallas, TX, Kyle (Lindsey) Laster of Dallas, Keith Laster of Fayetteville, AR and Vlad Sorokin of Mishawaka, as well as, his eight great grandchildren,Camryn, Alexis, and Lillian Raab of Edwardsburg, MI, Sam, Charlie, Max, and Thomas Leinen of South Bend and Gabriel Leinen of South Bend. Wilburn was employed at the former Uniroyal for 35 years before his retirement in 1989. He was a former member of New Life Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his love of bluegrass music, hunting, gardening, coaching baseball and restoring classic cars. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Friday, November 29, 2013 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 30, 2013 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
