Obituary

ELKHART - Willard Leroy Comer, 91, passed away Saturday evening, July 25, at Golden Living Center in Elkhart. He was born June 9, 1924 to the late Clayton and Marie (Rohrer) Comer in Elkhart, Indiana. Willard graduated with the Elkhart High School class of 1943. He married Virginia Biggs on December 15, 1945 in Elkhart. Surviving along with his wife, Virginia, are sons Steven (Darlene) Comer, Eric (Marietta) Comer, and William (Jody) Comer; daughters Nancy Miller and Sharon Gonsoroski, all of Elkhart. Grandchildren are Bradley (Tammy) Comer, Jennifer Comer, Christy Comer, Dr. Adam (Dr. Amber) Comer, Jason Schuelke, Derek (Sarah) Delcamp, Tiffany (Adam) Morningstar and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by grandson Jason Glaum, granddaughter Elizabeth Comer, and brother Clayton E. Comer Jr. Willard was co-owner and managing partner of C&L Electric Motor Repair in Goshen for many years. He was a proud Navy veteran having served on the USS Eldridge during World War II. The Navy sent Willard to electrical schooling at Morehead State University in Kentucky where he received a certificate in this field. He was exceptional at being able to repair or build most anything. Willard was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church in Elkhart. He enjoyed spending the winter months in Sebring, Florida with his wife. Among his many pastimes, he enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing. Friends and family may gather Thursday, July 30 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561 with a funeral service starting immediately after at 2:00 pm with Rev. Andy Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care or donor's choice.
