William H. Doty, Sr., 89, of Mishawaka, passed away at 12:31 pm, Saturday, September 1, 2012 in his home surrounded by family. Bill was born on May 24, 1923 in Mishawaka, the son of the late George and Frieda Doty. On February 28, 1946, he married Bertie "Abbie" Basham. She passed away on September 2, 2011
He is survived by three children, Bill (Patti) Doty, Jr., Tom (Kathy) Doty, Sr., and Kathy Doty Mahler, eight grandchildren, Tom (Katrina) Doty, Jr., Rachel (Troy) Owen, Dan (Tara) Sharp, Todd (Kerry) Doty, Jill Doty, Kaley (Ryan) Carter, Becca Barnett and Carl Doty,15 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. He is also survived by two brothers, Edward N Doty and Charles (Joyce) Doty and three sisters, Maxine Paine, Jane Judd and Dixie Anderson. He is preceded in death by two brothers, George and Floyd and two sisters, Evelyn Blicharz and Nancy Campbell.
Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army before becoming discharged in 1945. He was a member of the VFW Post 360. After retirement they owned and operated 3D Campground in Grovertown, IN for 15 years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00 pm, Thursday, September 6, 2012 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
