William R. Porter, 52, of Elkhart died Wednesday October 27, 2010 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born in Elkhart on December 30, 1957 to Roy D. and Sally L. (Mills) Porter. Bill was employed by Utilimaster Corp. in Wakarusa and was a member of Granger Community Church. He was a sportsman who enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, and also enjoyed playing cards & cooking. Bill is survived by his wife, Dawn Porter; his sons, William Kaine Porter and Lucas Porter, both of Elkhart; daughters, Karlee Porter, Tammy Porter and Melissa Blankenship, all of Elkhart; Del-Marie Hershberger of Mishawaka, Krystin Poore of Danville, KY and Lisa Blankenship of DeMotte, IN, and several foster-children and grandchildren; his father, Roy D. Porter of Bankston, AL; and his sisters, Cindy (Mark) Lootens of Clearwater, FL and Jody (Mark) Wooten of Tullahoma, TN. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Porter in 2002. Funeral Services 2:00pm Tuesday November 2, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, with calling one hour prior to services. Calling also on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8pm in the funeral home. The family''s preferred memorial is Oaklawn Therapeutic Foster Care, P.O. Box 809, Goshen, Indiana 46527. Private family interment services at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date.
