Obituary

William Donald Shidler, 85, of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in his home.
Bill was born in Grass Creek, Indiana on March 31, 1925 to Harry and Olive (Zeider) Shidler. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, who loved to fish, watch every kind of sport and feed all the squirrels in the neighborhood. He loved kids and dogs and they loved him back. He was a Lifetime member of VFW Post 360, Mishawaka and the American Legion of North Liberty.
On October 28, 1949, he married Donnabelle Louise Price and they shared 59 wonderful years together. In addition to Donnabelle, he is survived by their children, Marilyn (Frank) Serafino of Elkhart; David (Sue Pawlicki) Shidler of Niles, and Dale (Ken Pitt) Shidler of Milwaukee, WI. He is also survived by his grandsons, Jonathon of Osceola and Michael of Bloomington, and their mother, Sue Parent Shidler of Osceola. Bill is further survived by his brothers, Harry (Vivian) Shidler of Lakeville ; Bob (Cleo) Shidler of Lapaz, and; his sister, Doris (Bob) Mueller of Plymouth. Another sister, Margaret, preceeded him in death.
The family would like express their gratitude to the staff at The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care for the care they provided.

Cremation has taken place and burial of ashes is pending with full military graveside honors will take place at 11:00 am, Monday, March 21, 2011 in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola is handling arrangements.
