Zearl R. 'Zeke' Lewis, 83, of South Bend died Wednesday February 9, 2011. Born on September 26, 1927 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Elbridge and Elizabeth (Shelton) Lewis. Zeke was a US Army veteran of WWII and on October 17, 1953, he married Maxine Grodey. Retired from Allied Signal (Bendix), he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, South Bend Turners and the American Legion Post #284. Zeke is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Maxine J. Lewis of South Bend; his son, Bridge A. (Martha) Lewis of South Bend; grandchildren, Matthew B. Lewis of Palmer, Alaska, Kelly (Shawn) Harris of Mishawaka and Zachary (Christine) Lewis of Mishawaka; great-grandchildren William Harris and Isabel Lewis, and his sister, Mildred Frick of South Bend. Funeral Services 11:00 Saturday February 12, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. with full Military Honors. Friends may call Saturday from 10-11:00 at the funeral home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
